I've read that visualizing the steps to complete the goal and the outcome is more powerful than visualizing only the outcome.

Liked this message. Sometimes through visualizing you realize that's not what you intended, and you can redirect. A great exercise for both personal and business goals.

Chris, one of the greatest gifts a true leader has is the gift of vision. Hence, "he/she was a visionary leader". This involves actually seeing, in your minds eye, where to go. It doesn't mean your view is never clouded, however.

Another gift the leader must possess is the ability to move forward on what they see. A great many leaders have possessed a certain view, and lacked the courage to tread forth.

One powerful tool for visualizing your goals is mind mapping software. It can help you to focus on your core values, segment your goals by life roles and lay out action steps to accomplish each one. This blog post explains the process in more detail: http://mindmappingsoftwareblog.com/using-mind-mapping-software-for-life-planning/

Sometimes when visualising it can at times be difficult not to let unrealistic fantasies start to creep in to the imagination; at least in my case to a certain extent.

I've been able to redirect projects and priorities because I used visualization - it's powerful stuff.

I've been visualizing for years. It started as a way to prep for presentations...seeing the anticipated audience be receptive, etc. Expanded to all parts of my life after that with great success.

Isn't this a very vague, subjective and unmeasurable phenomenon? something which cant be ratified.

So vital. truly. i take it a step further. once i've visualized the image, i write down what that "thing" represents as thoughts.
Take the lake house/cabin.
Jot down 5-10 thoughts that idea represents to you/for you.
(nature, family, quality, peace, etc)
Savor those daily.
Watch what happens.
You don't give up the desired outcome a wink.
You DO start experiencing more of what you're wanting on a day by day basis.
The whole point: the stuff that matters, what you truly desire, doesn't have to be out there for some distant someday.
Hope that helps.

I was a quarterback and ran every play in my head. I also am a golfer and run every shot in my head. I tend to do the same thing when I speak at events and other things. Visualize and the body follows.
